“Dear Madam and friend, I finally find the time to thank you for your kindness in having agreed to lend the painting (Child with the Bear) to my exhibition at Charpentier. The director of the Boymans Museum in Rotterdam (Holland) would like to organize an exhibition of my best paintings in Rotterdam. In his choice, he naturally included your painting. Would you be kind enough to let me know if you agree to lend this work once again – after the Exhibition at Charpentier – for the Exp. of Rotterdam which will take place next June. The paintings will be picked up by Boymans Museum staff and insured during transport, back and forth, and during the exhibition in Holland. A little note please to tell me if you accept or if you prefer that this painting returns to your home immediately after the Charpentier Exhibition. With my friendly and respectful tributes. Your Van Dongen. »
