"My dear master, A quick note to let you know that I will be back in Paris around July 5th, after having visited Vigo, Lisbon, Tangier, Ceuta, Tetouan, Cadiz, Gibraltar, Malaga, Oran, and Algiers. I sincerely hope that you will have resolved, or rather overcome, the last difficulties of my Grant children , and that the matter will finally be settled. And truly, I am very pleased about it."
I saw in some newspapers that the resumption of the Around the World tour went well. So everything is fine. I have a 40-degree fever. Please tell Madame Desgranges that it's a very hot man shaking her hand, and even then, with caution, as he'll still have burns on his fingers. What a country! Yours sincerely, Jules Verne.

In the summer of 1878, Jules Verne sailed on his steam yacht, the Saint-Michel III, along the Mediterranean.
The theatrical collaboration between Verne and d'Ennery was difficult. The novelist detested the vulgar nature of his collaborator's mistress, Clémence Desgranges, whose presence he had to endure during long stays at their home on the Cap d'Antibes. Nevertheless, Verne served as d'Ennery's best man at his wedding to Clémence Desgranges in May 1881.
