“Dear friend, I am sorry about what happened with the object – tree trunk – that you lent for the exhibition, and which I consider to be one of the most important that I have made . It goes without saying that I will do my best to repair it, for your part you could look at the flea market for some equivalent to what is missing. I am completely immersed in my work. It will not be possible for me to come to Paris before the end of May – beginning of June. As I am still expected to sign the lithographs, it would perhaps be good if you would be so kind as to inform Cordier and Mr. Fall of this delay so that they know what to expect. My wife and I send you and Élise our most affectionate thoughts. Believe, my dear André, in my deep friendship. Miro. »
