Rare handwritten card from Jean Moulin to his friend Bellonte informing him that he can do nothing to resolve the situation of a Spanish refugee during the Franco regime.
“ I intervened, my dear Bellonte, on behalf of your Spanish , but I’m afraid there’s nothing to be done… Here is some new correspondence I’ve received from the Ministry of Commerce concerning Madame Bellonte’s export requests. I take this opportunity to send you both my sincerest wishes for 1940. Yours truly, Jean Moulin. ”
We are attaching the typed draft of Bellonte's reply to Jean Moulin, dated January 6, 1940, thanking his friend for his good wishes and for his kind assistance regarding his wife's immigration application. He ends his letter with these words: " Thank you for what you have been kind enough to do for my Spanish refugee ."
