“My dear Albert, I am definitely silencing my self-esteem as a writeryou have made a lovely chapter out of it, it will perhaps be the only one we will read in my book – but we will read it – look at my letter this morning ( …) I especially want to say, my dear Albert, that I do not only look at you as a comrade, but also and above all as part of my family – you know how much we all love you and for nothing in the world I would like to see alter the friendship that we have had for each other for so long – when will you be finished – do you want me to go and pick up your work tomorrow or do you want to bring it to me before, during or after our dinner. Always and more than ever your Jacques Offenbach. »
