The painter Alfred Levy (1872-1965) joined the Nancy workshops of Jacques' father, Louis Majorelle, in 1888 and subsequently became head decorator and then technical and artistic director (1926) of the Majorelle company, where he had a decisive influence at the dawn of Art Deco, alongside Pierre Majorelle and Paul Beucher. He deservedly received the Medal of Honor at the Colonial Exposition in 1931.
