“My very dear friend, I have barely settled in Toulouse (to do a week of portraits ) – (I live with Silvio Trentin's children) that the tile does not fail me. – I receive the following telegram:

Mrs Bellmer serious accident surgical intervention please Mr Bellmer to come home.

So I take the 6 a.m. train. this evening to return to Castres, after taking out a loan of 2,000 francs. –

Comment: 1) the misfortune of two people, who cannot live happily together, naturally leads to objective accidents .

2) On several occasions my wife has already sent me similar telegrams [sic], which were false alarms.

3) a few minutes before my departure, yesterday, at 6 a.m.  In the morning, she showed me an ulcer, already too black to be a newborn, in the center of her penis. – A strange worry that I have since been able to harbor in my ideas. Would there be a direct or indirect connection between this and the accident? (I don’t have an ulcer and I never had one – or anything)

Starting this evening, in Castres, I will give you news. I'm not only leaving the portraits broken, and therefore the money, but also the photographer who begins, Tuesday morning, to make the missing enlargements for the “Doll Games”. Affectionately. H.”
