Gustave Caillebotte (1848.1894)

Autograph letter signed to Claude Monet.

Two pages in-12° on paper engraved with his address.

Little Gennevilliers. Undated.

Gustave Caillebotte declined financial assistance requested by his friend Claude Monet.

“My dear friend, I went to Paris yesterday but all the troubles always happen together. At the moment, there are more than a third of April's rents that I have not received. My tenants are like you , and I just have to wait. I was forced to postpone until July contractors who were asking me for money. You know well that whenever I could, I never refused you, but today I assure you that I cannot – until July. All yours. G. Caillebotte. »
