Would I dare to ask you to have the extreme kindness of being near to Mr. Minister the organ of my regrets & to apologize for having missed the appointment that he was kind enough to grant me for yesterday in the evening. But around six o'clock I was taken by a sudden indisposition, which tormented me all night. Now I am much better; but I don't dare go out yet, otherwise I would have come in person to apologize. Please accept, Madam, the expression of the most earnest tributes from your very devoted Meyerbeer. »
