“My dear Jean, As soon as you receive this letter you will do me a great service : it will be to go and sell half of the coupons you have in your hands, at whatever rate they may be; they'll probably be at 17, 18 or 20 or 22, whatever, maybe lower or higher. You will go or send to Mr. Moulle, stockbroker on rue grange batelière opposite the side door of the Opera, or to any other.

You will leave the coupons with them and the next day they will give you the money. There are 16 coupons I think, that will make 8. So you will go to a banker and you will ask him for a letter of credit to Naples for Mr. Gérard Labrunie residing there, to be sent to poste poste. You will use 300 f for this letter of credit. on the money you receive (and the whole amount if you receive less), the rest (if you receive more) you will send to Mr. Gautié, successor pharmacist. I am wrong. You will send me everything by letter of credit to Naples. I am very sorry for you but this is a very important circumstance for me since I may find myself without money to return.

I am doing very well. I saw the sea. If you can't do all this, ask one of our friends to do it. I'm counting on you. A letter of credit by a banker for Naples to Mr. Gérard Labrunie poste restente . If everything doesn't go as I think it's doing for the best. Your friend Gérard Labrunie. Hello to all our friends. »
