Autograph letter signed to Mr. Berthoud dated September 21, 1857. Three pages in-8° on blue paper. Missing central part without affecting the text. Autograph address.

Devéria is worried about the sale of several of his paintings in London.

“Sir, one day when I was accidentally in Paris I wanted to see you at your home, but it was precisely not your day of visibility and I was forced to give it up, having no longer had the time to throw… St Jacques. The Salon closure postponements have prevented me from writing to you since, but here.....the free paintings and I have come to ask you if I should count on your proposal to send to Sydenham my two paintings of Jeanne Seymour at her toilet . If you still want them for display…. they will be at your disposal at M.Lambert gilder passage du commerce faubourg St Germain. Please be kind enough, Sir, to let me know your intentions on this subject so that I can notify Mr. Lambert... the paintings at his place - and so that he can hand them over to you. The big one is all ready with her crate since she has already traveled. Please also tell me if I should send you anything else…. I have a few small paintings that I can use.
Among others, Catherine of Aragon from Shakespeare's Henry 8. I would be obliged if you could help me as to the approximate price I should put on the two canvases….. I have absolutely no idea about the general price of art objects in London. Forgive me Sir for the trouble I am giving you and believe in the consideration of your very humble servant Eug.Devéria”
