Émile GALLÉ had his works published in the Gazette des Beaux-Arts.

Autograph letter signed with his monogram to Henri Guérard.

A very fine letter from the Master Glassmaker announcing the publication of his works in the Gazette des Beaux-Arts.

The newspapers are currently making such a fuss about my modest work that something characteristic must be given as a reproduction.

Émile GALLÉ (1846.1904)

Autograph letter signed with his monogram to Henri Guérard.

One octavo page on letterhead of his Cristallerie d'art.
Usine-Garenne (Nancy), August 19, 1889.

A very fine letter from the Master Glassmaker announcing the publication of his works in the Gazette des Beaux-Arts.

“Dear Monsieur Guérard, But you are the most obliging, just as you are the most skillful of artists! Monsieur de Lostalot’s letter, along with yours, informs me of something I was unaware of: Monsieur de Lostalot’s position as Artistic Director at the Gazette. I am sorry and annoyed by this little affair because of you. The newspapers are currently making such a fuss about my modest work that I must provide something representative as a reproduction. Here is my letter to Monsieur de Lostalot (duplicate). I have informed my representative that I have some photographs of floral pieces for you. I hope you will find a design that pleases you. We are submitting a plate to Monsieur de Lostalot. If we fail, it will be for someone else. We will send you the pieces if you wish, and I believe this will be very helpful for success. Only, you are not going to be away for long, that is the question.” The proof I sent you was to show you the shade, since you asked me what I thought (…) If you still need the drawing of the figure, I will send it to you immediately (hand, arm, thigh, and head profile). Kind regards, cordially, and admiringly. EG.
