“My dear companion, Your new letter, for which I thank you, proves to me that you understand the full gravity of the present situation in our country. Those who see clearly must arouse the attention of others and enlighten them about our objectives. This is your task as a companion and, for all of us at the gathering, the only way to prepare for national renewal. Believe, my dear companion, in my very cordial feelings. »
In 1947, General de Gaulle founded the Rally of the French People (RPF).
In the local elections of 1953, the RPF lost half of its votes and, on May 6, 1953, General de Gaulle released the parliamentarians after the result of the municipal elections where the RPF lost several of the towns conquered in '47.
