Remarkable and rare study by the master couturier depicting an elegant woman - Marie -, dressed in a brown jacket with a high collar and a red skirt, gloved and wearing an equally red hat.

The work is annotated in the upper right margin by Christian Dior:

“Marie, market scene. p.123. 1st version of sheepskin jacket »

 

On the back of the frame is a copy of the poster for the film The Post-Post Bed based on the novel by Louise de Vilmorin. Adapted by Charles Spaak and directed by Roland Tual, the film was released in 1942 with Odette Joyeux playing the role of Marie. Christian Dior – a young designer at the time little known – created the costumes for this cinematographic work.
