Charles DE GAULLE (1890.1970)

Letter signed to Miss Mc Neill.

One page in-4°, in English, on paper with its letterhead

London. 4 Carlton Gardens. August 28, 1940.

Remarkable letter in the early hours of his British exile.

“Dear Madam, I thank you most warmly for your letter of 21 st August and for the contribution you were good enough to enclose. Donations of this kind are not only a very real help in themselves, but the spirit of co-operation which lies behind them is also a source of great encouragement to me. In these tragic hours of the world's history, it is extremely gratifying to find that hose who are still free to do so uphold us in our determination to fight on and to conquer. »
