We are attaching a carbon copy of Y. Salmon's letter originally addressed to the General on November 26, 1943:
"My General, On behalf of the Board of Directors, I have the honor to announce the formation of the Algerian Committee of the ALLIANCE FRANCAISE. The first General Assembly took place on Monday; the Executive Council was appointed and the statutes were adopted; next Monday the election of the Bureau will take place and on December 1st the Board of Directors will organize an inter-allied tea to give the President of the Algerian Committee, Mr. Marcel SIMIAN, I believe, the opportunity to receive our allies."
In the first days of December, I will leave for Kabylia to see what the Alliance can do for the Indigenous people. The Algerians have provided us with effective, generous, and intelligent assistance; eager to immediately follow the path you indicated, they want to establish an active and stable committee that will form a solid base for the Alliance in North Africa during the liberation.
Mr. Charles Brunel has become a member of the Board of Directors, and we have the impression that the Algerians are pleased that we are associating one of their own with the work of the Central Council; the latter gains a member whose administrative qualities, combined with high intellectual and moral character, will be most useful to it. Please accept, General, the assurance of my most devoted sentiments. »
