Friend of Claude Monet, lover of the arts, and protector of the Impressionists, Gustave Geffroy was the author of numerous works on the subject. His artistic chronicles were collected and published in 1887 and demonstrate his constant support for the works of Pissarro, Cézanne, Rodin, and Monet.
