Zizi Jeanmaire sings Guy Béart. My dictionary tells me that a "zizi" or "zitzil" is a speckled hummingbird. And Carl Sandburg, in a famous tale, told us about "zizzies," those strange little creatures that zigzag everything they touch, even railway tracks. Zizi Jeanmaire is a bit like both: she has the hummingbird's brilliance, its size, its perfection, and its plumage , and also the mischievousness of the zizzies when she sets your heart spinning with her cheeky cooing. She played a very tough game: she presented herself to the general public with a brand-new repertoire; she risked everything, she won everything. Among the most notable songs in her repertoire are those of Guy Béart; a civil engineer, which gives him a solid foundation, Béart crafts equally solid songs. But he, too, must have a certain fondness for those zizzies that zigzag with bridges and roads, and the unusual blends with the solid. " The Rope Around the Neck" is the unusual; "The Brave Girl" is the solid ; the whole thing becomes particularly brilliant in Zizi's hands, so to speak. Besides, Zizi sings with her voice and her hands, that's understood, but also with her whole body; that's why it moves you so much to hear her: you see her with your ears… that explains everything .
