“Dear friend, I am sending you Miss Annie Besnard, about whom I have already spoken to you, because she needs to work and she is very pretty and will be able to provide services when she is summoned. You would oblige me greatly by seeing her for a moment. Thank you and all my regards. Antonin Artaud. »

Marcel Pagnol had just founded his own production company in the spring of 1932, based in Boulogne Billancourt. On November 2 of that same year, the film adaptation of his play Fanny , directed by Marc Allégret, saw the light of day under his production.

Note that on October 12, Artaud wrote a letter similar in all respects to the producer and director Laurent Tual (1902.1956).

Letters from Artaud to Annie Besnard were published in 1977 by Le Nouveau Commerce.
