"Dear Mr. Level, I received the second book with great pleasure. I prefer it to the first . I am quite happy at the moment and would like to work, but it is very difficult with the egalitarian red tape of the military, which is quite bothersome when one has other things to worry about. I admire but do not share your optimism; I know all too well the formidable equipment you speak of, which is no better than what is harming us, believe me. Perhaps external circumstances will help us, but that is all. As for the exhibition, I have no desire for it at all. I prefer to wait until the end of the war now, to exhibit accordingly. I would be very happy if you would keep the paintings at your home ."
