“Dear Mr. Level, I received the 2nd book with great pleasure. I prefer it to the 1st . I am quite happy at the moment and would like to work but it is very difficult with the egalitarian side of (…) the military which is very annoying when you have other things to worry about. I admire but do not share your optimism; I unfortunately know only too well the formidable material you speak of which is not superior to that which harms us, believe me. Perhaps external circumstances will help us, but that's all. As for the exhibition, I don't care about it at all. I prefer to wait until the end of the war now, to expose accordingly. I would be very happy if you kept the paintings at home .
