Allen JONES (1937-)

Autograph letter signed to Gabriele.

A page in-4° on paper with its letterhead. London, SD.

Beautiful letter on amusing and provocative stationery, revealing a naked woman from behind, a nod to his pop work on female objects.

“Dear Gabriele, I go to New York on the morning of January 26 until the 31 of January. It seems that we will miss each other this time. Thank you so much for the cuttings and invitation to myself and the family. Let's hope it won't be too long before we meet again. Allen. »

Jones' work, often provocative, is distinguished by the depiction of women in unequivocal positions. His fascination with erotic imagery, the figure of the woman expressed in an ambiguous, erotic and fantasized mode, remains the recurring and obsessive subject of his work. In 1969 he created his very famous series of mannequin sculptures representing pin-ups transformed into furniture: table, coat rack, chair.
