“Dear Lady Crosfield, Many thanks for your kind letter of congratulations on the engagement. I am still so busy answering letters and telegrams and I have to go to Paris on business soon, that unless you have anything important to communicate … I won't be able to see you for a while yet. With reversed thanks, I remain yours sincerely. Alice.
The engagement of Philip and Elizabeth was publicly announced on July 10, 1947. The wedding took place at Westminster Abbey on November 20 of that year.
