Throughout his life, Delacroix was interested in felines, which he observed with fascination from the 1820s onwards at the Jardin des Plantes, absorbing their attitudes and elegance. He regularly visited, with his friend Antoine-Louis Barye, the menageries of big cats at the Saint-Cloud fair and the Museum of Natural History, to study the animals in their natural habitat.

 

Format 12.50 x 20.50 cm.

Presented in a modern black wood frame with romantic decoration.
