Abraham-Louis Breguet was at the height of his fame and artistry in 1801. That same year, he designed the first wristwatch in history for Caroline Murat, sister of Emperor Napoleon I.

Having settled in Paris in 1775, the Neuchâtel native put his expertise at the service of all the crowned heads of Europe. Among his countless inventions, we should remember: the striking spring for repeater watches, the shock-absorbing mechanism, improvements to the perpetual motion machine, the tact watch, and above all, the tourbillon, which revolutionized watchmaking.
