Jules Verne lends his support to the French Africa committee.
“Dear Sir, I will see the Mayor as soon as possible, and I will discuss with him the subsidy requested by the French Africa Committee , intended to continue Grandveil’s patriotic work (?). If the matter is brought before the municipal council—and it very likely will be— rest assured that I will do everything in my power to support it. At that time, it will be useful to know if other municipal councils have subscribed to this project; and I think you could inform me on this matter. Please accept, dear Sir, the expression of my warmest regards. Jules Verne.”
